VANCOUVER, Wash. -- The Port of Vancouver USA launched its Centennial website today in an effort to share its history with the local community in an informative and interactive environment.

Founded on April 6, 1912, the port has served as a global gateway for the past century – creating jobs and economic growth through leadership, stewardship, and partnership in marine and industrial development. The website, themed “A Century of Possibilities,” was created in addition to the port’s current website, highlighting the port’s first 100 years.

Port of Vancouver USA Commission to vote on 2012 budget Tuesday

The Port of Vancouver USA Board of Commissioners will meet Tuesday, November 8, to attend to five action items, including the proposed approval of the port's 2012 budget. Open session will begin at 9:30 a.m., in the Commission Room at the port's administrative office, located at 3103 NW Lower River Road, Vancouver.

 

A public hearing on the port's proposed $84,658,374 budget for 2012 will be held as part of Tuesday's meeting.

The Port of Vancouver USA will hold its annual Commissioner Forum to discuss a variety of port-related topics, including new business occurring at the port and the associated job creation, on Tuesday, November 15, at 2 p.m. in the Commission Room at the port's administrative building, located at 3101 NW Lower River Road, Vancouver.  The public is welcome. 

Port of Vancouver's Steady Growth Delivers Strong Economic Benefit

VANCOUVER, Wash. -- The Port of Vancouver USA announced today  that overall job numbers tied to port activities increased slightly over the past five years despite the struggling economy. According to a recently completed economic impact study, job growth linked to an increase in the port's marine business made up for a slight decrease in jobs associated with the port's industrial tenants and customers.

Total number of jobs directly generated by port marine and industrial activities in 2010 was 2,337; a small gain over 2,268 direct jobs in 2005.

VANCOUVER, Wash. — The Port of Vancouver USA welcomed the M/V Queen Asia, commanded by Capt. Alfredo Coste Jr. on her maiden voyage to the United States on October 6, 2011.

Coste and his 18-member crew were welcomed to Vancouver by John Lindgren, production manager for United Grain Corp.; Jason Eeds and Rocky Richards, vessel agents for Transmarine Navigation, Mike Hanley, superintendent for Jones Stevedoring Company and port representatives Mike Schiller, Mark Newell, Tim Henkle, John Won and Debbie Taylor.

VANCOUVER, Wash. — The Port of Vancouver USA welcomed the M/V Mykali, commanded by Capt. Viktor Sapozhnikov of Russia, on her maiden voyage to the United States on August 23, 2011.

Sapozhnikov and his 17-member crew were welcomed to Vancouver by Earl Dixon, vessel superintendent for United Grain Corp.; Cory Nelson, PNW manager for Interocean Steamship Corporation and port representatives Nick Haindl and Debbie Taylor.

Port signs lease with Sapa Extrusions
Company plans to be operational, with Vancouver residents on the payroll, by fall of this year

The Port of Vancouver announced today the signing of a long-term lease with Sapa Extrusions, North America’s largest provider of extruded aluminum profiles, for a 142,800 square foot building located at 2001 Kototbuki Way. The 15-year lease, with two five-year options to extend, enables Sapa to relocate one of its plants from Vancouver, BC, Canada, to the port and bring 100 family-wage jobs to Southwest Washington.

Port closes on sale of land to Farwest Steel

VANCOUVER, Wash. – The Port of Vancouver USA today announced the closing of the sale of 20 acres of industrial land to Farwest Steel Corporation, one of the leading distributors, processors and fabricators of specialty steel products in the Northwest.  Closing is the final step in the real estate transaction between the two parties. 

The $5,082,500 sale is expected to bring up to 225 industrial jobs to Clark County.
